Firefighters are battling a 50-acre brush fire near the Pomona Fairplex, authorities said Monday.

The fire was reported at 2:22 p.m. in the area of Fairplex Drive and the 10 Freeway,  according to Vanessa Lonzano, of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Officials said no homes or structures were being threatened by the fire, and forward progress was stopped.

As of 6:30 p.m., the fire was 50 percent contained. Crews were expected to be in the area through the night increasing containment lines and putting out hot spots.

No other information was immediately released.
